These images spring from those special moments of forced calm when our otherwise seemingly perpetual movement is suspended, and we are able to recognize and contemplate the beauty of the ordinary.

The idea for this series arose in the interior of a car, as it glided through an automated car wash. Ric Amis captures the everyday shifting beauty of that urban environment. Abstraction and representation are the ebb and flow of these images, which in our lives, we may sometimes ignore. With The Way It Looks, Amis offers a reprise of such moments.
