Ric Amis calls himself a photographer and lens-based artist. People find this phrase intriguing and confounding.

Ric Amis is self-taught photographer, film and video producer; and brings to his art practice an appreciation for the working class that was part of his youth and most of his adult working life. He is an independent producer of film, video and photography. His background as a still photographer serves him well for both his technical and personal approach to the medium. His work is rooted is his own private life.
